Because of people like Steve Swope, I’m happy to say that BMX as a culture is maturing quite nicely. In case you don’t know who Steve is, you best recognize, for he made a huge impact on BMX for a number of reasons. As far as I know, Steve is the first guy to actually grind his pegs on a BMX bike (and also grind to fakie, which on a vert ramp, is no easy task.) Eventually, that one move transcended into the streets, and we all know where it’s gone since. So thank Steve next time you peg grind anything.

Salt Lake County prosecutors have filed charges against three men in the February burglary of the home of Olympic cyclist Dave Zabriskie.
Howard Jay Leopold, 39, and Craig William Carlisle, 43, were charged Thursday in 3rd District Court.
Leopold was charged with two counts of second-degree felony burglary, two counts of second-degree felony theft and one class A misdemeanor of failure to stop.

Olympian and former USA Cycling National Team standout Christian Vande Velde (LeMont, Ill.) broke away in the last 20-kilometers of the fourth stage of the classic Paris-Nice road race. Thirty-two year-old Vande Velde was one of the original members of USA Cycling’s early development programs, racing under the young national team banner for the first several years of his career.Â
