Lance Armstrong says he has “high interest” from sponsors if he takes over control of the crisis-hit Astana team.
“Considering the economy and considering global sports sponsorships, if it’s the title sponsor on Tiger’s bag, or it’s stadium rights. It’s a tough climate for all that stuff. We’ve had high interest,” Armstrong told The Associated Press on Thursday as he prepared for the start of his first Giro d’Italia.

Lance Armstrong lashed out Wednesday at Kazakh officials who let his Astana team fall into a financial crisis on the eve of his first Giro d’Italia.
“I don’t know them, I don’t have a personal relationship with them, but I get frustrated,†said the seven-time Tour de France champion who’s riding for free this season. “These Kazakhs, they don’t return phone calls, and there’s not a lot of clarity about what is going to happen.

Alejandro Valverde has filed a complaint in court in Spain against the Italian Olympic Committee’s attempt to ban the Spanish cyclist for doping.
The Italian committee confronted Valverde in February with DNA evidence and documents that allegedly showed he was involved in the Operation Puerto blood doping case.
