Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 18, 2010) — The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, which is visiting the U.S. for the first time since 2005 this August, will make another visit in 2011.

New York’s Windham Mountain resort will host round five of the 2011 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, July 9-10. For the second year in a row, the venue will welcome the world’s top mountain bikers across the cross country, downhill, and four-cross disciplines.

Like 2010, 2011 will be another back-to-back season for significant North American mountain bike races with round four of the World Cup taking place in Mont Saint Anne, Quebec, July 2-3, the weekend before the Windham Mountain round.

The complete schedule for the 2011 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is as follows:

April 24-25: World Cup XCO, DHI & 4X #1 – Pietermaritzburg, South Africa
May 21-22: World Cup XCO #2 – Yorkshire, Dalby Forest, Great Britain
May 28-29: World Cup XCO #3 – Offenburg, Germany
June 4-6: World Cup DHI & 4X #2 – Fort William, Great Britain
June 11-12: World Cup DHI & 4X #3 – Leogang, Austria
July 2-3: World Cup XCO, DHI & 4X #4 – Mont Sainte Anne, Quebec, Canada
July 9-10: World Cup XCO, DHI & 4X #5 – Windham, New York, USA
August 6-7: World Cup DHI #6 – La Bresse, France
August 13-14: World Cup XCO #6 – Nove MEsto Na Morave, Czechoslovakia
August 20-21: World Cup XCO & DHI #7, 4X #6 – Val di Sole, Italy

Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 17, 2010) — The United States is currently ranked number one in the world in elite women’s mountain biking.The official UCI standings, which were updated on June 7, can be found here. 

The United States is in the top position with 597 points, compared to the 478 accumulated by Canada and the 446 amassed by third-ranked Switzerland. 

The success of the American women so far this season can be credited largely to riders like Willow Koerber (Durango, Colo./Subaru-Gary Fisher) and Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./Luna). Koerber grabbed silver medals at the first two rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup while compatriot Gould grabbed the silver at round three. The pair currently sits in fourth and 12th respectively in the individual UCI rankings which can be found here.
