The riders of the USA Cycling Pro Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance Tour (Pro UET) on Saturday contested the 12 Hours of Snowmass in Snowmass, Colo., to close the calendar. At the conclusion of the five-race calendar, David “Tinker” Juarez (Whittier, Calif./Cannondale Factory) and Monique “Pua” Mata (Anaheim, Calif./Team Sho-Air Specialized) topped the men’s and women’s standings, respectively.

Juarez won the pro men’s race in Colorado, posting three wins in the three races he contested to bring his season total to 180 points and top the final Pro UET men’s standings. Beech Mountain, N.C. (July 22, 2012) – The 2012 USA Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships are officially in the books as professional and category 1 downhill racing closed out competition at Beech Mountain on Sunday.

Connor Fields leaned on a wooden fence beam at Boulder City BMX, armed with a Sharpie and two 24-packs of Monster Energy Drink.

A flock of kids straddling BMX bikes surrounded him. For nearly an hour on a sweltering 90-degree day, he scribbles his initials — a C and backward F, the way his dad does it — and Team USA onto cans, BMX jerseys, bike seats and anything else thrust at him. Beech Mountain, N.C. (July 20, 2012) – Racing at the 2012 USA Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships continued on Saturday with pro downhill qualifying and dual slalom competitions across all age groups and categories. In all, twelve riders stood on the top step of the podium at the end of the day.

A short but heavy rain came down just before the finals began, making for slick conditions in the amateur finals. The course tightened up pretty quickly though, and by the time the pros went off – it was in perfect condition.
