The challenge was achieved successfully; three different specialties of BMX together (dirt, street and park) seemed a nearly impossible combination, but Red Bull Dirt Conquers made it possible with 25 of the best riders in the world showcasing their talents in front of an audience of 15,000 in Parque Metropolitano.
Six-year-old Dylan Cassells and 72-year-old Tony Rika represent a large group of Hamilton BMX Club riders who will be heading to July’s UCI World BMX Championships.
In fact they are the youngest and oldest member, respectively, and are both equally excited about competing against riders from all around the globe when the competition kicks off on July 24 at Auckland’s Vector Arena.

Kicking off a big weekend of MTB action in the Tweed Valley, the dual slalom is a part of the TweedLove Bike Festival – a big mash-up of bike events over 10 days which gets bigger every year. Amongst the riders were Steve Peat and Sven Martin, and Chris Ball took the win. Good times on a Friday night in bike valley.
