Formerly known only for its ski resort, the Colorado town turns toward mountain biking.
Mountain bikers have a new reason to visit Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Last week, the town voted to spend tax money it collects on lodging for the next decade on developing mountain bike trails and supporting cycling infrastructure.
The money, which will total around $6 million, was previously used to bond a golf course. Now it will be routed to the Steamboat Springs Trails Alliance, a partnership between Routt County Riders, Steamboat Springs Bike Town USA, Yampatika and the Steamboat Springs Running Series.
