Torrential rain, backyard barbeques and dance parties

DAD Stuart McLain was just one among 100 silver surfers who rushed to relive the exhilaration of their younger BMX and skateboarding days.

Scaffolder Mr McLain, 34, from Gloucester was back on a bike again at the fun older people’s sports event at Rush skatepark in Stroud at the weekend. Mr McLain had until now watched from the sidelines as his son Cohen, three, enjoyed the ramps at the facility in Brimscombe.

The best BMX riders in North America will ply their trade at the UCI North American Continental Championships to be held Sunday, March 30, on the Beijing replica supercross track at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The 2014 enduro season opener for myself and fellow Yeti Cycles Ambassador Nate Hills may have been the most demanding, intense, and adventurous event either of us have ever done. We embarked on our journey to South America with the intent to compete in the Andes Pacifico Enduro and then continue on after the event to explore the endless rugged peaks of the Andes.

The Andes Pacifico Enduro started high above the ski area of La Parva, tucked underneath the massive Cerro Plomo glacier. Just getting there was an adventure in itself.
