Frenchman Fabrice Gropaiz has completed his journey across the United States on an electric skateboard, the first part of his World Tour.
Gropaiz left San Francisco on May 26 with his goal to reach Miami as quickly as possible. He reached the Florida city in late July after covering close to 4,000 kilometers on his electric skateboard.
Few racing sports are as raw as downhill longboarding. Charging down a steep asphalt road on a piece of wood (sometimes carbon fibre) and two pairs of small wheels, usually without protective leather clothing, is as hardcore as it gets.
Imagine standing on top of a mountain pass in the far South of Slovenia. You are 1000 meters above sea level and in the middle of brown bear country. A thin white line at the bottom of your feet is marking the start line, three riders, with full-face helmets covering their faces, standing next to you. Only two out of four will progress to the next round, but that does not matter now. You try to calm you thoughts and focus on what you are getting into.
