Some of North San Diego County’s leading skateboarders kicked up the action at local skateparks this week as they practiced for Saturday’s PacSun Clash at Clairemont 3 in San Diego.
“Skating with skaters at the highest level will always help you get better,” full-time skater Mimi Knoop of Encinitas said Wednesday about preparing for her third trip to the Clash, which showcases world-class skateboarding skills.

Encinitas resident Chris Conway, 46, is a man on a mission. Between running his action sports marketing event consulting business and putting the finishing touches on projects around the globe, the former tennis pro is preparing for the third annual Clash at Clairemont on March 14.
The event mixes skateboarding demonstrations and contests with vendors and live music for a fun-filled day to raise funds for Grind for Life. Conway is a founding member of the board of directors of Grind for Life, an organization dedicated to raising funds to help people with cancer meet the burdensome expenses that come along with the disease.

The third annual “Clash at Clairemont “is bound to be an epic demo with the best of the world’s awesome skateboard and BMX pros riding together to crush cancer. Names like Macdonald, Sheckler, Lasek, McCoy and Hoffman are listed in the lineup for the March 14 event.
