HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ryan Sheckler can’t sit still. He paces back and forth inside the Roosevelt Hotel before sitting down for a moment and then getting back up.

A part of him wants to get on his skateboard nestled against the wall and a part of him wants to rest but he can’t do either at the moment.

“I keep getting these back spasms,” says Sheckler, squinting as he talks. “You get used to it but at the end of the day I want to be at the skate park.”

Los Angeles – With Skateboard Big Air Rail Jam making its X Games debut, it’s only fitting that Big Air pioneer Danny Way would usher the event into the history books with a gold medal.

Nursing a pre-existing leg injury that forced him to drop in while riding switch, nearly twenty-three minutes elapsed before Way hit a successful landing for a 92.00 score. Notching his first gold medal since 2006, the skateboard icon reiterated afterward why he was so determined to overcome the pain and compete.

“I have a passion for skateboarding,” said Way. “It’s a fire that’s burning and it doesn’t go out. I love skateboarding and I’ve been doing it my whole life”…  Details

Video Skateboard – 2 years after brutal fall, Brown gets X Games gold

Jake Brown finally has something else to talk about.

The skateboarder whose grisly, 40-foot fall to the floor of the X Games mega ramp two years ago drew gasps and became a viral video sensation, won gold Thursday night in the same Skateboard Big Air competition at Staples Center.

“Feels great I guess,” Brown said.

The 34-year-old Australian earned a 94 on the third of his five runs with a backside 360 over the mega ramp’s gap into a 20-foot-high McTwist over the half-pipe for his first X Games gold.

Brown’s 2007 spill knocked him unconscious and left him with a broken wrist, a cracked vertebra and a bruised lung.
