Professional snowboarder Shaun White is known for his board prowess, whether it be hitting the half pipe at the 2006 and 2010 Olympics, or tearing up the vert at the X games. Now he’s tacking on one more title to his lengthy job description: lead guitarist.
His band, Bad Things, has just signed with Warner Bros. Records and announced a summer tour starting in New York and finishing up in Minneapolis.
In early December, pro skater Javier Mendizabal and the Quiksilver by Vuerich B project team travelled to Phnom Penh to meet the Skateistan Cambodia team and their students. The whole experience is exposed in the short film ‘Wheels to Grow’ following Javier and Quiksilver Foundation during their visit to Skateistan Cambodia.
As an ambassador of the Quiksilver Foundation, Javier participated in all of Skateistan Cambodia’s day-to-day activities with the students. Through their shared passion for skateboarding, Javier was able to inspire and motivate the students of Skateistan to push their own skating to new levels.
I was riding the bus in Austin, when I started seeing skateboarders out my left window. I noticed they kept coming so picked up my phone ran to the other window and started recording. Southbound off of Congress. About halfway through you see a whole bunch of skaters hitching a ride on a cop car. I ran out if room on my phone but they kept coming down for a good 10 minutes. Congress was totally shut down. It was pretty awesome. In celebration of Go Skateboarding Day!
