Hurtling past mountains at 85mph, a daredevil has become the first man to fly through a waterfall wearing a wingsuit.

Jeb Corliss, 35, came within five feet of the cliff face and had to battle against turbulence as he completed the challenge in the mountainous region of Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss Alps.

The daredevil, who had been planning the stunt for over a year, attempted the flight eight times before he finally succeeded.

These are the incredible images which capture the breathtaking views of two paragliders as they sailed into the record books with a 204-mile flight record.

High fliers Jon Hunt and Nick Greece sailed at speeds of up to 40mph and more than 18,000ft high for seven hours over some of the most remote terrain in America.

Taking in stunning sights such as the Red Desert and numerous mountain ranges across Wyoming, USA, they had to carry everything from oxygen to food and flight computers.

After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. Felix reached a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h (833mph) through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

Felix Baumgartner stepped out of the space capsule an astonishing 128,100 feet, or 24.26 miles above earth, about three times the cruising altitude of jetliners. The skydiver plummeted for 4:20 seconds, but it seemed an eternity, because his faceplate was fogging up on the way down as he fell through harsh atmospheric conditions at a dizzying speed.

Baumgartner was also thrown into a dangerous tumble shortly after exiting. “It felt like a flat spin,” said Baumgartner. “I had a lot of pressure in my head, but I felt I could regain control so we could go after the sound barrier   …  More
