More drama today as some big names are eliminated in this year’s SA Bodyboarding Championships at Sun Coast Durban and the Southern KwaZulu Natal team push ahead in the race for the provincial ‘Fishman’ trophy.

Huge upset on Day 3 of the South African Bodyboarding Championships, as Darren Halse (SKZN) the 2010 South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA) Tour winner was knocked out in the qualifying rounds of the Pro division. The day was full of drama, with the second round of qualifiers being surfed for the Pro, Junior’s and Dropknee divisions.

The day kicked off with the Dropknee division. The morning was slightly windy, overcast and comfortably cool, but it was a nice rest from the sun and high temperatures of Day 1.

Warren Canepa (EP) and Derek Footit (SKZN) impressed in the morning with big turns and solid floaters. Canepa managed to get a cracker, with a thick gouge and a solid floater that earned him the first 9 point ride of the day.
