Video Snow Skiing – Nimbus Films “Contrast” Trailer – Skiing is about more than the latest tricks and best action from the previous season. The new motion picture film from Nimbus, ‘ Contrast’ , takes a different approach to both documenting and editing a ski film by examining the difference between objects, people, concepts, color, and the skiing of Pep Fujas, Andy Mahre, Chris Benchetler, Blake Nyman and Eric Pollard

It will be held in the French resort of Tignes next winter, the first time it has happened outside the United States.

The resort has a reputation for being at the forefront of freeskiing and new competitions.

There will be eight different events over three days, including Ski and Snowboard Super Pipe and Slopestyle for men and women as well as a Snowmobile demonstration.

It will take place  March 10-12, and will no doubt have a few of the athletes that took part in the previous month’s Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver…  Details & Video

Canberra residents should have their ice scrapers on hand with clear, sunny days and cold nights expected to continue over the weekend.

But the typically heavy frosts and the spectacular wintry cover on the snowfields could be short lived.

Park City » The athletes have been coming through for workouts for nearly two months now, so they already know all about the benefits they can enjoy at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s new Center of Excellence training home.

Now, everybody else has an idea, too.

Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert and other dignitaries joined Park City’s Ted Ligety — gold medalist at the 2006 Turin Olympics — in officially dedicating the $22.5 million center at a ceremony Friday before ski officials led tours for the public. Situated triumphantly on a gentle slope at Quinn’s Junction, the center is a far cry from the warehouses and strip malls that used to hold the various departments of the federation.

“It’s definitely an upgrade, in every area,” skier Erik Fisher said.
