An ongoing snowstorm and thick fog have forced organizers to call off both women’s World Cup ski races this weekend—downhill and super-combined events.
The decision was made Sunday morning with 40 centimeters (16 inches) of snow having fallen over three days on the Kandahar Banchetta course. Organizers had already postponed the downhill, which was originally slated for Saturday.

U.S. Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso traded in her skis for a sports car one a day this week and got a helicopter sightseeing tour as a bonus.
Officials in Sestriere, the site of Mancuso’s giant slalom victory in the 2006 Turin Games, invited the Californian to the Ferrari factory in Maranello on Wednesday.
Mancuso is accustomed to whizzing down mountains at speeds in excess of 80 mph, but couldn’t pass up what she called a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.â€Â   … Details

The fledgling American Ski Cross Association is sending John Teller, Pat Duran, and Biche Rudigoz to participate in the Winter X Games’ skiercross event in Aspen, Colo. This will be the first X Games birth for Duran, while both Teller and Rudigoz competed in last year’s event. Two former Olympians and current board members of the organization, Casey Puckett and Daron Rahlves, will also be competing.
