New Zealand’s skifields are furiously making snow as the season gets into full swing.
While little natural snow has fallen, conditions were good for making it using snow machines.
Geoff Wyatt, ski patrol director at Cardrona, said it was the first day of the season for their field. They had put 20-30 million litres of water through their snow machines and had a 35cm-65cm base.

Woodward just held its grand opening for its newest camp resort based in Lake Tahoe, which features training facilities for skate, BMX and snowboarding! Tony Hawk took some friends up to Tahoe to properly break in the new park with style. In addition to the Birdman; Riley Hawk, Curren Caples, Mike Vallely Brian “Slash” Hansen, Clive Dixon, Michael Davis and Chris Mathis were all skating the fresh park while Mike Escamilla pedaled around — even snowboarder Chas Guldemond hopped on his skate for some fun.
