…a few random things to point out today. First off, Travis Pastrana and Johnny Knoxville have teamed up for a new Jackass type of TV series that is going to be airing on MTV soon. Apparently, it features stunts from all genres of extreme sports and anything that falls in between. What does this have to do with BMX? Well, not a whole lot at the moment although there are a couple clips in the trailer below that show a BMXer by the name of, Hubert Kowland. Who is Hubert Kowland you ask? Maybe he just owns a BMX bike but I’ve never heard of him. I’m not sure if more BMX is scheduled to be involved in this, but judging from my experiences hanging out with Hoffman and Knoxville last summer, I’m sure Hoffman and others will be involved. I’m just wondering what kind of stunts will be going down, cause the trailer looks ridiculous! It’s like Jackass hyped up on steroids but without all the sick vomiting and bodily fluid antics…  More info  

A MOBILE skate park has been bought to tour the area’s schools.

The portable facility is scheduled for a pitstop at Sir John Talbot’s Technology College during half-term, when it will be sited on the school’s tennis courts.

The skate ramps are open to children aged from seven and all sessions are free.

Children can take their own skateboard or they can borrow one. The ramps are also suitable for BMX bikes and inline skates… More info

If all goes according to plan, skateboarders will be doing kick flips, nose slides and McTwists at a skateboard park at Northside Park by July 2010.

The design of the $850,000 park, to be about a third the size of a football field, was unveiled to a City Council committee earlier this week.

The Council is expected to approve the final appropriation of $150,000 for the skate park in May…  More info

The Kaua‘i Police Department Patrol Services Bureau has designated February as Pedestrian Safety and Skateboard Awareness Month, a county news release announced Tuesday.

“We’re hoping that by focusing on pedestrian safety, motorists and pedestrians will be reminded that safety on our roadways is a shared responsibility,” Acting Captain Mark Scribner said in the release. “We also want to call attention to the county’s skateboard ordinance because it’s becoming a major safety issue.”
