Sailboard – Tomahawk Foils are the new windsurfing revolution

At this year’s RYA Volvo Dinghy Show, Weymouth-based Tomahawk Foils will unveil its Tomahawk foil, the surface running, ventilated hydrofoil it has invented and patented for both sailing and powered water craft.

The foil has been fitted to a windsurfer on display in the Palm Court and can also be seen on the Ovington Boats’ concept dinghy on Stand C88.

Sailboard – Farrell Oshea reaches 45 knots speed in West Kirby GPS Windsurfing battle

A cold but sunny day saw many of our fastest sailors converge on West Kirby to do battle on the GPS speed ladder.

Fastest of the day was again Farrell Oshea on his new Moo with a maximum speed of 45 knots and a 42.2 knot 5 times 10 second average.

Bodyboarding – More than 400 bodyboarders head to Brazil for the 2009 IBA World Tour

For the first time in history Brazil will receive two world tour events sequentially.
The Katherine Melo will open the Brazilian leg in April 21st and then the Bahia Bodyboarding Show will take the world best competitors to the north of Brazil.

Both events will distribute a total of $75.000 dollars and 4500 IBA points. IBA Brazil expects more than 400 competitors on both events. …  Details

City’s unfair skateboard & Inline Skate ban should be lifted

Consider the double standard in this: If a city resident pedals into town on a bike, he or she is a carbon-footprint hero brimming with health and rewarded with bike paths, convenient racks, even an annual “bike to work” day.

But if a young adult ventures downtown on inline skates, or worse, a skateboard, this (albeit often slightly younger) self-propelled commuter is hauled over by the cops, his transportation may be seized and he or she faces a $50 fine.

It is just plain silly to ban skateboarding and inline skating across the entire city….  Details
