Sailboard – Bonaire welcomes the 2009 IFCA slalom Pro Kids Junior, Youth and Masters Worlds

As the sport grows and expands it makes sense to bring slalom windsurf racing back to Bonaire. Bonaire is proud to welcome the IFCA slalom Pro Kids Junior Worlds and Youth and Masters World Championships. The event will be held on Sorobon Beach, Bonaire from 12th to 18th July 2009.  

The island is proud to add slalom racing to its annual event.

Bonaire offers perfect race conditions with water temperatures in the low 80’s. 

Lac Bay is a protected area affording all racers safe and challenging courses. Bonaire has great pride for the unofficial national sport, windsurfing.  The entire island warmly welcomes freestyle and slalom competitors in July….  Details

Bodyboard – Bodyboarders get set for the IBA Cobra D’ Água Bodyboarding Show

bodyAll competitors attending the Brazilian IBA leg tour must confirm their entry online.
Both events will distribute a total of $75.000 dollars and more than 4500 IBA world points.
 
The first event will take place in Estaleirinho Beach, Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina from April 21st -26th . The event will count as a women Grand Slam event and international for men. A total of $25.000 dollars for men and $15.00 for women will be distributed.

Skateboard – A Short History of Skateboarding in Isla Vista

On a recent night while I was biking home through UCSB, I saw a now-rare yet familiar sight: Skateboarders trying to “ollie” off the Geology Department stairs by the bike path along Broida Hall. That brought back a flood of memories of Isla Vista’s skateboarding past. It was skateboarding that brought me to this little seaside enclave back in 1985, again in 1986, and it eventually caused me to move up here in 1987. The way I see it, coming here was no accident and the skateboard was a tool of that process.
