Once again the annual KiteFest Alaska is upon us. This year our unofficial motto will be, ‘Bigger, better and actually organized’. Seriously though, this years event will build on the enormous success of last year with classes, clinics, food, demo gear, competitions, partying, and loads of kitesurfing! We are even hosting an hour long Friday night film fest in a local theater to get our stoke on for the weekend. The final day of Cobra D’Ãgua Bodyboarding Show Bahia 2009 took place in better conditions than yesterday, but the wind and rain made life difficult for the riders. The waves were bigger than yesterday (3-4 ft) and the crowd filled Armação Beach.
Guilherme Tâmega and Eunate Aguirre won the event and now both are leading the IBA World Ranking. Guilherme defeated Eder Luciano from Brazil while Eunate defeated Mayllae Venturin.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the City Insider told you that San Francisco soon plans to add its second skateboard park in as many years and only the city’s third overall. Now we learn that a fourth is in the offing and that it could occupy a closed and long-dormant section of Waller Street in southeast corner of Golden Gate Park.
The idea had been kicked around for years, but recently gained traction when the city’s Recreation and Park Commission debated what to do with an $80,000 surplus left over from 2008 capital projects that came in under budget. More than 100 windsurfers and kitesurfers took to the waves to raise funds for cancer research.
Organiser David Tuttlebee was given special permission to leave his hospital bed for the day so that he could be at Hayling Island for the fundraiser.
