This exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum Of The American Indian has some noteworthy rarities—including a 1969 Craig R. Stecyk III photo of a board adorned with native imagery, and a home movie of the Tavarez brothers from Stecyk’s legendary Zephyr surf team. But the stars are decks created by American Indian designers such as Bunky Echo-Hawk, Jim Murphy, Walt Pourier, Dustinn Craig, and Todd Harder, who founded the annual All Nations Skate Jam that’s co-sponsored by Vans… Details
Like the fans of a cult band, wakeboarders travel from competition to competition. But for the wakeboards, the sport spans the generations as families travel for fun on the water.
At Rose City this weekend, Don Burnett hosted his seventh Mid-Summer challenge. Families and singles came from across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana to camp swim, swap stories, and enjoy the sand and water.
Burnett owns the deep, crystal blue fresh-water lake, north of Interstate 10, and created from digging sand. Fine sand lines the road and parts of the waterfront.
