Sailboard – Sebastian Kornum is the youngest winner of the Highland Springs HIHO

Sebastian Kornum of Denmark became the youngest winner ever in the 25 times the race has been contested in the waters off the British Virgin Islands today. The 17-year old U17 World Champion won both the morning race and the afternoon race of Sandy Cay to finish the event with four straight stage victories in one of the more impressive HIHO victories in recent years.

“I didn’t make any mistakes today,” said Kornum, who noted that he checked the course in the early morning before the race to set his strategy. His father Torben, also a contender this week, said “ sailing in 14 knots of wind around this tricky island made for interesting racing, very technical and exciting. Bodyboard – WBA girls join Drop Knee competition at Sundowner Tiona

 The WBA has been invited to join the DK sessions event to be held at Sundowner Tiona (at Pacific Palms, south of Forster NSW), on the 1st -2nd August 2009.

Yes that’s right, all you girls who think you have a bit of skill on the knee, you will be stoked to hear about this specialty event!

We have a separate women’s division from the mens that event organiser, Clayton Pickworth, has kindly created just for us!

It’s only $50 to enter as a professional, the prizemoney will be based on entries, for example if 8 girls enter @ $50 then the prizemoney will be $300 (taking out $100 for insurance) and so on. Or if you just want to enter as an amateur, have some fun on the knee and compete for prizes, then it’s only $25…  Details

Kiteboard Fundraiser – Kiteboard For Cancer wants to raise $5000 in South Australia

kiteboardSouth Australia – Kiteboard for Cancer is a great initiative kicked off by SA kiter Ben Howlett. Bens request for WAKSA support was received just as we were planning to begin an ongoing charity sponsorship program of our own. Coincidentally the cancer charities had already been considered the most appropriate given the support offered to WAKSA by Healthways.

NB: If you havent already heard Healthways contributed an extremely healthy $5000 to Kitestock 08 which we put to very good, very appropriate and very much appreciated use by purchasing the two instant shades which were set up, centre stage at the Kitesock event. These shades will continue to provide protection and spread the Healthways/SunSmart message at future WAKSA events…  Details
