Fresh from a ten-day rest after the Germany Tour stop, the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA) – the world renowned kiteboard riders association is back in Brazil for a 5-day Tour stop. Organized by the Gest Group led by Eduardo Piloni as General Coordinator, Kite-Racing Brasil 2009 will run until August 16, featuring world-class kiteboard racers and some of the best Brazilian racers the kiteboarding world had ever seen.
Yesterday’s registration drew a ton of participants from different nationalities including the largest delegation from Brazil with 18 male competitors and 3 women racers. The local racers will get a chance to test their skills against the experienced and the best racers in the world.

Albeau (JP/NeilPryde) continues to dominate the 2009 Pegasus PWA world Cup despite jumping the gun in race six. Dunkerbeck (Starboard/Severne) holds firm in second with consistent sailing throughout, whilst Maynard (RRD/NeilPryde) storms into the remaining podium position after a strong day on the water.

Valerie Ghibaudo (Tabou/The Loft) looks ever more likely to take the PWA slalom crown as she finishes day three counting a clinical score of straight wins. Two more bullets were added to her tally after she delivered another dominating performance.

For a few hours on a recent evening, the headaches of keeping a step ahead of Iran’s notorious security forces begin to fade. Skateboarders, BMX bikers and aggressive inline skaters zip down the quarter-pipe in their baggy street wear, pumping their arms whenever they land a tricky move. Small groups of teens from relatively well-off families, some still in middle school, stand on the sidelines staring in awe while beats spin over the booming speakers.
