AMA Pro Racing announced today its interest in a 450cc singles class for future AMA Pro Road Racing seasons.  The purpose of the class would be to provide a gateway for young regional riders to ascend to the national ranks of professional motorcycle racing.
 
Over the coming months, AMA Pro Racing officials will begin the process of testing the concept for performance, competition and safety characteristics as well as viability and interest in the marketplace. Preliminary plans call for the entry-level professional class to feature an arrive-and-ride format utilizing a single, yet-to-be-determined manufacturer and 450cc single-cylinder motorcycles prepared by a single tuner.  Entries in the class would be restricted to riders between the ages of 16 and 21, supplanting the requirements for AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei…  Details

Dan Pedrosa dominated from the start in Leguna on his Repsol Honda, shooting from forth position on the grid into the lead.

The skillful Spaniard was at the front of the pack from then on and even Valentino Rossi was unable to get past him. Jorge Lorenzo challenged Rossi for second place repeatedly but he was unable to complete an overtake.

 Jorge Lorenzo needs to pass a medical test before taking part in Sunday’s U.S. MotoGP following a crash just moments after snatching pole position.

The Spaniard was taken from the Laguna Seca circuit in an ambulance after he tumbled over the handlebars and slid into a sand trap at high speed at the end of Saturday’s qualifying.

The official MotoGP website (www.motogp.com) said initial tests showed he had a partially dislocated right shoulder and a bruised right foot, but a decision on whether he could race would not be made until Sunday…  Details
