The sixth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, was a night of firsts, as Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Justin Hill and Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart both carded their first wins of the season, and both did so in convincing fashion. For Hill, the win was the first of his young career, and for Stewart, the win marked his first of the season, but 46th of his career. Stewart’s victory bumped him to fourth in the points standings, while Hill moved into third.

Two Two Motorsports’s Chad Reed dominated at Angel Stadium for the second time in the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, leading all 20 laps of the Main Event for the win. Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen challenged hard for the victory but fell short by a fraction of a second, finishing in the runner-up position. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto crossed the line in third.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart inched ahead of the competition to earn the holeshot, but slipped back to fourth as Reed, Villopoto and Roczen powered to the front. Reed assumed the lead in the opening lap and though he’d face plenty of pressure throughout the night, the veteran rider never ceded his position.
