When Lake Havasu City-Arizona kicks off its seventh annual Spring Break Bike Week, April 2nd through the 5th, a national motorcycle championship series will be a major part of the festivities. A bit of the valley’s almost-forgotten sporting history resurfaces today and Saturday as dozens of motorcycle racers spin around a short, slick and quick concrete track at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.
“You have to lean in pretty far and stay on the gas,” Jethro Halbert, a professional racer from San Jose, said before Thursday’s practice round in an indoor pavilion. “There’ll be a lot of bumping out there.”
