Beginning in 2013, USA Cycling will enact the following changes as it relates to upgrades to road and cyclo-cross licenses.
Cyclo-cross Upgrades
The cyclo-cross upgrade section was rewritten to more closely match the road. There are two ways to upgrade, voluntary and mandatory. The number of points is now given for each of the mandatory upgrades. Please note that junior women are exempt from a mandatory upgrade to Category 2.

USA Cycling on Friday unveiled its 2013 national championship calendar, highlighted by several new locations for events.
“We are excited about all of our national championships venues,†Vice President of National Events Micah Rice said. “Our new locations in Tennessee, Pennsylvania and North Carolina have really stepped up and we’re looking forward to great events for our members. What’s also exciting is that our relationships with our existing venues continue to get stronger and those events will continue to grow.â€

Last Sunday in (usually) sunny San Diego, I raced the SheRox Triathlon, compliments of race sponsor Toyota. Unfortunately, the sun did not make an appearance on race day, but heavy mist did. While a light drizzle is inconsequential during a swim and can be downright refreshing on a run, wet roads are not the safest for slick-tired road bikes. Rainy conditions do not mean you need to abandon biking altogether, but you do need to be a bit more cautious on the road whether you’re cycling to work or tackling a tri.
