Astana riders were not paid last month and the Kazakh-funded team will receive a warning from the International Cycling Union (UCI), the sport’s governing body’s president said on Tuesday.
“It seems some riders have not been paid their salary last month,†Pat McQuaid told Reuters by telephone.
“Sponsors might be in a difficult situation.
“I will send them (Astana) a letter before travelling to Astana within two weeks to meet the Kazakh federation president.â€
