Alejandro Valverde has filed a complaint in court in Spain against the Italian Olympic Committee’s attempt to ban the Spanish cyclist for doping.
The Italian committee confronted Valverde in February with DNA evidence and documents that allegedly showed he was involved in the Operation Puerto blood doping case.

Lance Armstrong plans to auction off his Giro d’Italia and Tour de France bikes, which will feature designs from artists including Shepard Fairey and Damien Hurst.
Armstrong has posted photos on his Twitter account of his bikes for the Giro, which starts Saturday in Venice. They feature an intricate yellow-and-black design by Fairey, who made the iconic Barack Obama poster.

Astana riders were not paid last month and the Kazakh-funded team will receive a warning from the International Cycling Union (UCI), the sport’s governing body’s president said on Tuesday.
“It seems some riders have not been paid their salary last month,†Pat McQuaid told Reuters by telephone.
