The future of Tour de France champion Alberto Contador’s Astana team is again in doubt after cycling’s ruling body made new demands for financial guarantees.
Kazakh Cycling Federation deputy president Nikolai Proskurin said Tuesday that the International Cycling Union is demanding a bank guarantee of Astana’s annual budget before it will renew its ProTour license.
Proskurin says the demand is unreasonable and that he is unsure whether Astana can meet Wednesday’s deadline … Details

Lance Armstrong’s new RadioShack racing team is getting ready to ride.
Team manager Johan Bruyneel announced a 26-rider lineup for 2010 on Monday, including Armstrong’s former Astana teammates Levi Leipheimer, Andreas Kloeden and Yaroslav Popovych.
Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, came out of retirement to race the 2009 tour with Astana and finished third at age 37, making him the second-oldest rider to make the podium …Â Details

Manchester, Great Britain (November 12, 2009) — Americans won 11 medals, including five world titles, at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships held November 4-8 in Manchester, Great Britain.
Jennifer Schuble rode her way onto the podium’s highest step twice over the four days. With a time of 38.834, she won the LC2-CP4 combined class 500-meter time trial, breaking her own world record which she set at the Beijing Paralympic Games last summer. She continued her winning ways with another gold medal in the 3,000-meter pursuit.
Barbara Buchan also picked up a world title for the U.S. as the fastest woman to cover twelve laps in the women’s LC3-4 – CP3 3,000-meter pursuit. She then added a bronze medal to her hardware stash by clocking a time of 45:599 in the 500-meter time test.
