Road, Track, BMX athletes prep across the globe in March
It was a busy week for U.S. athletes across several disciplines. On the road, USA Cycling National Development Program riders made their way to Italy for an early-season training camp. Later this week, five of those riders will compete in the Istria Spring Trophy in Croatia. On the track, riders are busy preparing for the UCI Track World Championships slated for the end of this month. The last week saw plenty of BMX action as well with a U23 Development Camp in Chula Vista and a trip to the Oceania Continental Championships for four of the nation’s top BMX stars … Details

SURREAL: Grafton resident David Kraitzick was riding his bike just 5km from Christchurch’s CBD when the earthquake hit last week.
David Kraitzick thought he had punctured the front tyre of his bike as he cycled the last 5km into Christchurch’s CBD after a 450km trip around the South Island.
But as he swerved across the road, struggling to keep in control of the bike, he heard several car alarms going off and realised it was an earthquake.
