The 2011 USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships completed Sunday with nearly 500 riders contesting the second day of road races at Summit High School. Eight national championship jerseys were awarded to men 30-59 and women 30-39 in the road race.

The men’s 55-59 road race started the day and nearly half of the 73-rider peloton separated itself after the first of three laps. The 2011 USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships returned Saturday to Summit High School for the first day of road races. The morning races started in a chill, but the temperatures increased to a comfortable high of approximately 80 degrees.

Over 250 unique riders contested the road race course which stretched 57 kilometers for individuals and 84 kilometers for tandems. In all, 20 national titles were awarded on the first day of road races.

The men’s 65-69 started the day and John Elgart (Sacramento, Calif./Alto Velo Racing Club-Webcor) continued to reign in that age group, collecting his third Stars-and-Stripes jersey this week. Elgart barely edged Scott Hennessy   …  More

USA Cycling has awarded the 2012 and 2013 Collegiate Road National Championships to Ogden, Utah.

The events, to be held May 4-6, 2012 and May 3-5, 2013, will utilize roads from the 2011 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah for the road race. The team time trial, a mainstay event of collegiate cycling, will take place on a scenic course with expansive views of the Wasatch Mountain Range while the criterium will make circuits through Ogden’s vibrant downtown district. The Weber State University cycling team will be assisting the city of Ogden and the Ogden/Weber Convention and Visitors Bureau (OWCVB) in hosting the event.
