It’s not easy being a slave to the big bad corporate machine. Some of us, however, manage to find our niche and make it work with no more than some Pabst, P-Tex and a little bit of bong water. Lane Knaack is one of those people. Riders from around the globe are currently making the trek to Stratton, Vermont for the men’s last 6Star event of the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour season. The 6Star Burton US Open is set to take hold of Stratton Mountain Resort all next week with slopestyle finals scheduled for Friday, March 19th and halfpipe finals set for Saturday, March 20th.

The fifth stop of the year on the Freeskiing World Tour went down last weekend at Kirkwood, California. Incidentally, Kirkwood is the home of The Tower Bar and Grill, which is, without a doubt, the home of the biggest, gnarliest plate of nachos on earth. Try it, I dare you, the thing is like three feet tall. The two day FWT competition was preceded by two days of qualifier rounds and a new and impromptu “last chance qualifier” where those riders who were on the bubble of being cut from competition were given a second chance, head-to-head with the other bubble-boys.
