New South Wales ski resorts are celebrating one of the best ever opening weekends, with plenty of natural snow as well as record levels of artificial cover.
According to Perisher Blue spokeswoman Kelly Schlecht, “It’s been fantastic, we’ve had so much snow that we opened a day early, on Friday”. Things are looking promising for the snow season in the NSW region this year. “This place has better corn right now than Nebraska,” said Berry Rogers. “Everyday is absolutely bluebird and the snow is amazing.  I have been sprinting up every chance I get. It seems like every famous skiier and snowboarder in the world is up now. I am not a park skier, but I find myself just lapping the runs right by the park because the show is so good from the lift. Video shooters are everywhere and half of the lift rides are with some famous skier or some great up and comer.”Â

If you’re still jonesing for the shred, stop bitching: get yourself to a glacier and have at it. Summer riding is way more awesome than having a pint glass cracked over your head watching 22 guys chase a ball, or scrapping with the most selfish humans on the planet for sloppy waves. We’ll be bringing you one spot each day for the next 8 days, starting with Les Deux Alpes.
Though summer ‘camps’ aren’t as popular as they were back in the day, there’s still a fair few knocking about – notably in Les 2 Alpes – but that’s not to say that the glacier crews are any less pumped to shape killer parks in spots without camps.
