The seventh season of Urban Assault Ride, the largest bicycle-based adventure race series in the US, will hit the streets in 10 cities this year. Â
The Urban Assault Ride (UAR) is a funky bike scavenger hunt that involves navigating city streets, taking on unique physical challenges, and an after-party. Weekend warriors, racers, bike commuters, couples and families unite as teams of two take to the town by bike, sponsored by New Belgium Brewing.
During the ride, checkpoint challenges may include power-sliding adult big wheels, face-first slip ‘n slide action, or even jousting on BMX bikes. The challenges vary in each city, so participants never know what’s in store. Resplendent in the white, black and blue road-riding colours of the Sydney Cycling Club, the former president James “Doc” Guthrie steps off his $8000 bike, surveys the Adelaide cityscape and smiles.
“You know, the beauty of this place is that here people wave their hands at you; in Sydney they shake their fists. Here people throw you kisses; in Sydney they hurl abuse,” says Guthrie, 56, a university professor.

IMBA, the International Mountain Bicycling Association, is urging all mountain bikers to support a proposed rule change under which it will be easier for the U.S. National Park Service to expand trails for mountain biking in various parks.
And while you’re at it, the organization wants you to join IMBA. The argument is that increased numbers in IMBA ranks will flow more emails and letters to the Park Service – there’s a suggested letter in favor of the rule change on the IMBA Website.Since there are less than 10 days… More info
