If you’re an entrepreneur (or ever had daydreams during death-by-boredom conference meetings of becoming one) you’re familiar with the process of trying to come up with “the big idea.” It ain’t easy, to say the least: researching, brainstorming, sleepless nights, feeling like your banging your head against a brick wall, headaches (from actually banging your head against a brick wall), more sleepless nights (from uncomfortable bandages wrapped around now bruised head). Then, finally, at 4:23am as you lay in bed ready to strangle the 1,099th sheep you’ve counted – the idea finally comes!

Understanding this crazy, difficult process, I’m ever more appreciative of creative, original, inspired new business and product ideas. Thus, the moment I heard about ARTCRANK, the bike-themed poster art show …  Details

Black Market Bikes is proud to announce the the arrival of our prototype short travel frame….the “Killswitch”.

We worked closely with Pablo Tafoya in developing our “Hammer-Link” design creating a our compact low profile suspension frame. The Hammer-Link provides 4 inches of rear wheel travel while maintaining a stiff, flickable feel with hort 16” chainstays and the lowest seat height of any suspension frame….period.

The Killswitch has the ability to be run single speed or geared for true versatility. Handmade from 6061 T6 aluminum with function and durability in mind, the Killswitch was meant for the bike park… this is not one of the usual suspects in fresh paint. Like anything we produce, there was a need for something more… and the time has come to… “throw the switch!!!”

Canberra, Australia (September 6, 2009) – Kathy Pruitt (Santa Cruz, Calif./Jamis) gave the United States its fourth and final medal at the 2009 Mountain Bike World Championships on Sunday. The U.S. women earned silver and bronze medals in 4X, a bronze in elite cross country and finally a bronze in the elite women’s downhill to bring the American medal count to four. Melissa Buhl (Chandler, Ariz./KHS) also landed inside the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in women’s downhill. Twelve men contested the junior and elite men’s downhill with the top finish coming from Cody Warren (El Cajon, Calif./Decline) who placed 13th in the elite men’s category.

The ninth of 26 riders to start in the elite women’s downhill contest, Pruitt knocked nearly 10 seconds off the next best time to move into the top spot. The former junior world champion held that lead the majority of the event, until Emmeline Ragot (FRA) came down third from last and bested Pruitt’s time by nearly …  Details
