A new mountain bike park for Washington’s Stevens Pass Ski Resort has been approved by the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, which manages the land where the resort operates on U.S. 2 between Everett and Wenatchee. Â

(April 13, 2010) – USA Cycling sent twenty riders to represent the United States at the Pan American Continental Mountain Bike Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala, April 9-11. At the end of the three-day competition, the team had earned seven medals – three of which were Continental titles.
On Saturday, Katie Holden (Scotts Valley, Calif.) grabbed the first medal for the U.S. contingent, riding to the Continental title in the elite women’s downhill contest. It started with a climb via AFP before we plunged into a rocky and slippery downhill to the river and walked/biked to the Wawa dam. More than 9 hours of riding but it was all worth it!
We have some bad news coming out of Montana today. Our fellow cyclists there just got word, as of May 1st, it will be illegal to ride 150 miles (out of 170) of trail in Montana’s Hyalite-Porcupine-Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area (WSA), which includes the amazing Gallatin Crest Trail.
The trail access restriction is the result of a lawsuit against the Forest Service’s management of the WSA.
