Port Angeles, Wash. (April 22, 2010) – The USA Cycling Professional Mountain Bike Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) kicks off this weekend with round one on the trails at Dry Hill in Port Angeles, Wash.

As the first of five international-caliber downhill events that make up the Pro GRT, the Port Angeles contest (also round two of the NW Cup) will feature an all-star roster of downhill racers from around the world.  

The men’s race will include riders like former world champion Greg Minnaar (RSA/Santa Cruz Syndicate) and former World Cup champ Josh Bryceland (GBR/Santa Cruz Syndicate), as well as 17-year-old U.S. phenom Neko Mulally (Reading, Pa./Trek World Racing) and reigning USA Cycling National Champion Aaron Gwin (Morongo Valley, Calif./Yeti-Fox Shox). Other U.S. riders to keep an eye on will be Duncan Riffle (Santa Barbara, Calif./Team Giant), Joey Schulser (Boulder, Colo./Yeti-Fox Shox), and Chris Boice (Albuquerque, N.M./Yeti-Fox Shox).

April 15, 2010 (Conshohocken, Pa.) – America’s Gravity East downhill racing series has released its confirmed 2010 schedule that includes a USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour event. The Whiteface 5K Downhill will highlight the eight-race series that also features the first downhill race in a generation in Killington, Vt.  

The eye-opening news was only one of several surprises on Gravity East’s recently-released 2010 schedule that will span much of the eastern United States from America’s northern border with Canada, to the charming beauty of the Shenandoah Valley that was known as the Breadbasket of the Southern Confederacy during America’s Civil War.

USA Cycling’s Development Program athletes were quite busy over the last week on the road, as well as on the BMX track.Riding for the National Development Program junior squad, Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas/Hot Tubes) finished third in Sunday’s Junior Paris-Roubaix. USA Cycling also fielded U23 teams for both the Circuit des Ardennes International and the Tour of Flanders, and a women’s team for the Ronde van Drenthe World Cup in the Netherlands.
