Teton Gravity Research and Anthill Films reimagine the ultimate skier’s dream—a powder day—in mountain biking terms. Dirt falls from the sky like powder snow, while ecstatic riders play across a magical landscape. For riders Thomas Vanderham, Matty Miles, Ian Morrison, and Finn Iles, the Dirt Blizzard was something that they once could only dream about… until now. The filming of Dirt Blizzard can be described as a true climax in the history of action-sports cinematography. UnReal is being called the ultimate conjunction of athletic prowess and jaw-dropping cinematography, and no segment of the film highlights this better than “Dirt Blizzard”, a visual feast at the film’s end.
The legendary Playboy Mansion has seen more than it’s share of action over the years, and trials biker Danny MacAskill has thrilled millions with his videos, so it was only natural the two came together for a clip sure to put a new meaning to the term “Bunny Hop.”
While recently in Los Angeles on the heels of his dramatic riding film “Epecuen,” MacAskill was surprised with the opportunity to lighten things up a bit and take his skills to the fabled home to Playboy and Hugh Hefner. With more than six acres of land to roam (and not to mention numerous creatures; human and animal playing about), it was certainly a new experience for the masterful rider more used to balancing on treacherous ledges than entertaining a pool full of giggling beauties by riding atop the infamous Grotto.
While the usually shy MacAskill admitted he was a bit distracted by the “scenery,” he left knowing it will be an experience he’ll talk about for years to come. “It was a surreal experience, definitely something I can look back on in 20 years’ time and laugh about.
Red Bull Foxhunt went off with a bang in Rostrevor with 400 hounds (mountain bikers) being chased hard by World Cup Downhill legend, Gee Atherton.
Last year only one rider managed it but this year 30 out foxed the Fox. First place went to Colin Ross who thundered into the finish line arena with a good lead ahead of last years winner Greg Callaghan of Dirt Norco with Joe Barnes of the Dudes of Hazzard in third.
