East London kids are benefiting from a new groundbreaking project by cycling charity Sustrans (creators of the national cycle network) aiming to keep them away from gangs.
Launched this year the Bow Boys BMX Club is Sustrans first project aimed at utilising the BMX Pump tracks built as part of London 2012 Olympics legacy project managed by Access Sport.
Hundreds of pint-sized riders are being invited to take part in Merton’s first ever BMX toddler race using specially designed “no pedal balance bikes”.
Children as young as 18 months, up to five-years-old, will be able to take part in the Strider British Balance Bike Championship at Merton’s BMX track in Mitcham on May 5.
