The head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission said she would allow retailers of youth-model all-terrain vehicles to unload their older inventory despite new restrictions on lead content that prohibit sales. But it isn’t clear if acting CPSC Chairman Nancy Nord has the authority to grant such permission.

Murrieta Assistant City Manager Jim Holston said Thursday that parks maintenance employees will, in the coming weeks, begin their annual clearing of over-grown weeds on city-owned land at Kalmia and New Clay streets. When the brush is cleared, Holston said, the land, slated to be developed into a public park in a few years, will be levelled.
