Video Cycling BMX – Nyquist Wins BMX Dirt Finals at Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge – TJ Ellis of Moreno Valley, Calif. was in the lead at the BMX dirt final after completing his second run, and only extended his lead with his third and final run. It came down to the last rider of the night, Nyquist, who jumped from eighth place to first with a run that included a one-handed x-up 360, an opposite 360 tuck no-hander and a 720 one-footed x-up. Nyquist finished with a score of 92.56 and Ellis came in a close second with a score of 92.31.

Olympic gold medalist Maris Strombergs (LAT) displayed his dominance in his first supercross race since the Olympic Games winning round three of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, presented by Swatch in Chula Vista, California on Saturday. Australian Sam Willoughby earned the silver while American Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) grabbed the bronze. Olympic silver medalist Laetitia Le Corguille (FRA) brought home the women’s victory ahead of Columbia’s Mariana Pajon and American Arielle Martin (Pleasant Grove, Utah/GT).

Strombergs put on a dominant performance on the Beijing Olympic replica track winning each of his heats as well as his quarter and semi final rounds. Willoughby, winner of round #2 of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in South Africa, used consistency advancing through each round with ease.

Olympic medalists and California natives Mike Day (Santa Clarita, Calif./GT) and Donny Robinson (Napa, Calif./Hyper) posted the fastest qualifying times of the day on day one of round three of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, presented by Swatch in Chula Vista, California on Friday. Olympic gold medalist Maris Strombergs of Latvia was right on the heels of the American pair in third while Australia’s Sam Willoughby, winner of the second round of the Supercross World Cup in South Africa, posted the fourth best time.
