The United States opened the 2012 UCI BMX World Challenge & Championships in Birmingham, U.K. as the winningest nation in the young challenge class divisions once again. The UCI BMX World Championships & Challenge are set to begin this Thursday, May 24 with competition running through Sunday, May 27. Twenty five of America’s top elite BMX racers will contest this final qualifying event before the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
“The BMX World Championships in Birmingham are key in confirming our top male and female athletes for the London Olympic Games,†said USA Cycling BMX Programs Director Mike King. “We have a strong men’s program and our women’s program is quickly progressing.
