The high winds finally returned to Worthington Minnesota on Sept 27 and 28; blowing 25 to 35 knots each day.

We had a number of sailors participating.

Alex Mussolini tears a pathway to the front of the fleet on day six with an awesome display of skill in a super sized Sylt spectacular.

With the skippers’ briefing taking place at the crack of dawn, the wave fleet smothered the beach with kit and hit the water from the early hours. The wind was often gusting over 40kts, a strong current was running, and plenty of North Sea growlers were hitting the shoreline, meaning kit choice was critical.

From September 25th through to October 4th the Worlds best wave sailors, freestylers, and slalom sailors will battle it out for their final end of year rankings, and a share of the €105,000 prize purse at the prestigious German windsurfing location on Brandenburger Strand. Not only will they be earning points, but the wave sailors and freestylers will also be gunning for the most coveted prize of all, the PWA World Championship titles!

RS:X Windsurfing Worlds. It has been a long time coming. The last Olympic windsurfing world champion from Great Britain was Barry Edgington and that was back in 1992. Barry just happens to be Nick Dempsey’s [GBR1] coach. Nick is the 2009 RS:X Windsurfing World Champion. An emphatic win. The final scorboard shows Nick a full 18 points clear of second placed Nimrod Mashiah [ISR21].
