Free introductory Kitesurfing, Windsurfing and Wake Boarding lessons will be available to the public at the European Speedsailing Championships which will take place in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford from the 17 to 23 of October.

According to windsurfer and event organiser Martin Waldron the opportunity to try out the sport is not to be missed, “We are really hoping that the public come out and try some of the activities on offer, our coastline is perfect for water sports so we may even be introducing a future Champion to the sport!”..  Details

Storm force winds and relentless seas restrict competition on the final day of the 2009 World Tour giving Marcilio Browne the opportunity to wow the crowds and win some cash in an epic Sylt super session.

With the wave contest fully complete, it was only the freestyle and slalom guys that could have possibly competed on the final day of the Colgate World Cup Sylt. Every effort was made to ensure that the second round of freestyle or a few rounds of slalom could be completed in time for the closing ceremony. Unfortunately the competitors were greeted with extremely high winds and huge North Sea waves making any form of World Class competition not only impossible but also very dangerous…  Details

Alex Mussolini and Iballa Ruano Moreno tame mast high growlers to claim victory in the North Sea. Meanwhile, Josh Angulo and Daida Ruano Moreno claim the 2009 Overall Wave World Titles.

With a huge low heading straight for the North Sea, head judge Duncan Coombs, made the excellent call to start the wave heats early on the eighth day of competition at the Colgate World Cup Sylt.

Unpredictable winds and heavy rainstorms plagued Westerland’s iconic beach on the seventh day of competition, causing havoc for the start of the second freestyle single elimination.
 
After a dusk ‘til dawn of wave action the previous day, a promising forecast had the freestyle fleet all set to do battle, and eager to get back on the water to strut their stuff. Unfortunately the wind didn’t quite cooperate and much of the day was spent either basking in the sun or hiding from the squalls – Sylt managed to deliver all four seasons in one day…  Details
