The 2010 Starboard Severne US Windsurfing National Championships takes place this year at San Francisco’s Crissy Field July 20th through the 24th.

This year’s event includes the Formula Windsurfing North American Championships which, along with San Francisico’s dependable weather, and cosmopolitan city, has drawn in a deep and talented field of competitors from around the world.

With strong steady winds, and the stunning backdrops of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline, the radical windsurfing action at this year’s event should be a feast for the eyes. Marco Begalli (Master) and Jacek Piasecki (Youth) were crowned 2010 European Formula Windsurfing Champions. Competitors and race committee alike were ready to go but regrettably the wind deserted the last two days of the competition.

Day Three – Another morning with no wind but, as yesterday, the AP came down at midday. However, with the wind refusing to reach 7 knots, sailors waiting for the start for over half an hour were returned to the beach as it was just too hot on the water!   …  Details

The Medal Races wrapped up the action at the RS:X European Championships in Sopot, Poland today with Shahar Zubari (ISR) and Marina Alabau (ESP) both retaining their titles.

First out onto the windward Leeward course was the mens fleet. After an excellent series, the defending champion Shahar Zubari (ISR) just had to sail conservatively and not finish at the back of the fleet to take the title.
