Lots of winds and waves for just the few windsurfers who wanted make it out on this challenging day. Lots of tough times getting past the rocks with one guy being forced back to shore.

‘It looked into my eyes’: Surfer recounts close call with 18-foot great white shark at Mavericks
There are a lot of risks associated with surfing at Mavericks, the iconic surf spot just north of Half Moon Bay. If the five-story waves aren’t enough to scare you off, there are also great white sharks to contend with from time to time.
Drake Stanley was reminded of this fact of nature while out on the water Sunday. It was around 1:30 p.m. He had been surfing earlier in the day, but was doing a shift of rescue duty on a jet ski, where he helps out surfers who have nasty wipeouts.

Jason Polakow’s search for the perfect wave for windsurfing has just begun.
This time, he travels to Indonesia for a windsurf adventure like no other. Jason’s true passion has always been chasing down some of the biggest waves and best surf conditions and he is the only wave-sailor to break away from full-time competition to challenge nature in its most extreme form. In February 2016 he became the first windsurfer to tackle the giant waves at Praia do Norte, near Nazaré, Portugal, saying: “This isn’t Maui, You don’t come out here for 20 fun waves. You come out and you feel good if you get one or two unbelievable rides.”
