PWA Pozo World Cup, Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival day 5 delivered some absolutely epic conditions.
As the wind rose above fifty knots for the second day in a row and the waves continued to pummel into the bay of Pozo Iballa Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) created a piece of windsurfing history as she became the first person to defeat her sister, Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne), in Pozo since 1999.

Iballa Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) was declared the winner, whilst Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) and Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North) secured their places in the men’s winners’ final. The losers’ final will feature Dany Bruch (Starboard / Severne / AL360) and Dario Ojeda (Tabou / Gaastra / MFC).

On the second day of the 2012 PWA Pozo World Cup, with lighter winds than the previous day, head judge Duncan Coombs made the decision to run the women’s single elimination ahead of the remainder of the men’s. Although the winds were lighter than on Monday, the women were still reaching for their 3.4-3.7 sails in order to survive the powerful winds of Pozo.
