On the opening day of the 2012 Planet Win 365 PWA Tenerife World Cup, the competitors registered between 10am and 12pm. After the registration process was completed, the men’s single elimination began shortly after 13:45, with sailors needing to complete one jump and two waves to meet the judging criteria. The contest got underway with 25 knots of wind and excellent waves, however, at half past four the conditions started to deteriorate, which brought the first day to an end just before the conclusion of the men’s second round.

The 2012 PWA Pozo World Cup proved to be a raging success as waves and nuclear winds, gusting to sixty knots, hit the shores of Pozo. The extravaganza was completed over five enthralling days. By the end of the week, Iballa Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) had re-written the record book, with a breathtaking display, as she became the first person in 13 years to steal the Pozo title away from her sister, Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne). Meanwhile, Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) successfully defended his Pozo crown with a brilliant display of his own, as he defeated Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North) in the men’s winners’ final.
