Marina Alabau has tasted gold in the RS:X Women’s event at the Olympic Sailing Regatta, in London.
She sailed consistently as she has done all week to overtake Olga Maslivets, on the last downwind. “I’ve lived this moment many times in my head. I am very proud to feel it, in real life. It’s wonderful. It was the race of my life!”, said Alabau.

Dorian Van Rijsselberge has won the gold medal at the Men’s RS:X Olympic windsurfing event.
The flying Dutchman has secured the top place in the podium, three races before the end of the competition. Van Rijsselberge never placed outside the best three and pulled out of Race 10, after having already confirmed gold.

The water was flat but the action was hot on the Nothe course today as the Men’s RS:X class took to the starting line for their final Olympic performance. As earlier reported, Dorian Van Rijsselberge (NED) had already secured Gold prior to today’s medal race, but there was plenty of tussling and tactical tugging for Silver and Bronze amongst the ‘plank’ sailors (lighthearted slang for windsurfers, given their high-speed boards). Ultimately, Team Great Britain’s Nick Dempsey racked up an impressive (and somewhat unexpected) Silver, while Poland’s Przemyslaw Miarczynski rouded-out the podium positions with a well-earned Bronze.
