A boat is once again the fastest craft under sail! Paul Larsen has broken the speed sailing record* on the boat known as Sailrocket, ripping the title from the kiteboarders. Skirting the edge of disaster on Walvis Bay in Namibia, the Australian speed demon has proven his craft, his persistence, and his bravery as he pushed his high tech boat and sailing itself to the upper limits. Paul once told YachtPals that to break records “every now and then you have to take big jumps, and just suck it and see what happens.” Well, he proved himself right this week as he claimed the outright speed sailing record for himself, breaking American kitesurfer Rob Douglas’ 500 meter record by a whopping 3.58 knots!

After a long six month battle, Windsurfing has made it back as an Olympic Event for the 2016 Olympics.

The ISAF Annual General Meeting, in a simple majority vote, decided to delete Kiteboarding and re-instate Windsurfing, which has been in the Olympics since 1984 as a Mens Event, and since 1992 for Women.

The ISAF AGM also voted to re-instate the RS:X as the class to be used in the 2016 Olympics.

In May the ISAF Mid Year Meeting of the ISAF Council, in Stresa Italy, took many by surprise when it installed Kiteboarding as an Olympic Event, doing so against the recommendation (17 votes to 2) of the Events Committee   …  More

Done and dusted. After months of tension and battles of words, the International Sailing Federation has decided the future of wind boardsports in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. There’s only room for kiteboarding.

After four days of spectacular competition, light and strong wind conditions at the beach of Castelldefels came to a fabulous end, when the European Championship in Kiteboarding Freestyle as well as the winners of the Mini Kitesurf Tour Europe in Course Racing were crowned. 97 riders out of 19 nations participated in Spain.
